  4. Preparing for Your Future: The Graves Center for Calling and Career

While it's hard to think about career readiness when you haven't even been to your first day of class, four years goes by quickly. That's why staff at our Graves Center for Calling and Career will work with you throughout your time at GC, making sure that your resume shines for that first job interview and preparing you to be a working professional. Whether you're going to graduate school or joining the workforce, we have resources to help you succeed.

At the Graves Center for Calling and Career, we can help you explore potential majors through career assessments, including the TypeFocus7. We are always happy to meet with you to discuss your results and help you sift through the information to narrow down your career options. Graves Center for Calling and Career staff also work tirelessly to connect students with internships that they can complete for academic credit and to further their process of career discernment.

We believe that freshmen should get involved, use the resources available to them, and focus on transitioning successfully to college. This is the best way to prepare you for life after GC and your future career! As you progress through college, we are happy to set up appointments to review your resume, conduct mock interviews to calm your nerves, and help you connect to potential employers.

CAMPUS JOBS: JOINING THE GC WORKFORCE

If you are interested in working on campus, we're here to help you find a job using TigerNet, GC's online job board. Check your GC email in late summer for more information about how to create a TigerNet account. If you're interested in checking it out today, you can access TigerNet by visiting The Portal, clicking on Departments, and then selecting Center for Calling and Career. From there, click on Resources & Programs in the left sidebar, clicking on the TigerNet icon to see a list of current on-campus job postings. Students can also visit this website or download the Symplicity Jobs and Careers App from the Apple Store or Google Play.

THE COLLEGE-TO-CAREER COMMITMENT: FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR CAREER DEVELOPMENT

All incoming GC students are automatically enrolled in our College-to-Career development program. Students can earn career development funds in their second year of college by participating in an array of College-to-Career programming, eventually earning the Harper Gatton Leadership Medallion before graduation by completing all program requirements. Details about the College-to-Career Commitment can be found on our Resources and Programs Portal page.
